HOMEMADE STUFFING MIX (STOVE TOP DRESSING)

Ingredients
  

  • 6 cups breadcrumbs soft fresh
  • 1 heaping tbs parsley flakes dried
  • 5 tbs minced onion
  • 1/3 cup celery flakes, dried
  • 1 tsp thyme ground
  • 1 scant tsp black pepper freshly ground
  • 1/2 tsp rubbed sage
  • 1/2 tsp marjoram dried leaf

To make the Stuffing:

  • 1 1/4 cups water or use low sodium chicken broth
  • 3 cups stuffing mix
  • 3 tbs butter
  • salt to taste

Instructions
 

To prepare mix:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.Spread the bread out on two baking sheets. Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until it is dry and crumbly. In a large bowl or large plastic food storage bag, combine the bread crumbs with the dried parsley, minced onion, celery flakes, thyme, pepper, sage, and marjoram.

To prepare the stuffing:

  • Bring water or chicken broth and butter to a boil. Stir in the stuffing mix. Remove from heat, cover, and let stand for 5 minutes. Taste and add salt, as needed. Fluff with a fork and serve. Serves 4 to 6
