Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon thick cut
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • black pepper coarsly ground

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and top with a roasting rack. Lightly spritz the rack with a nonstick spray. Lay out the bacon on the rack, leaving just a tiny bit of room between each piece.
  • Brush the bacon with the maple syrup and then sprinkle with the brown sugar. Top with a generous sprinkling of pepper.
  • Finally, bake until the sugar is melted and the bacon is crisp about 15 to 17 minutes. Or if you’re like is and prefer it a little extra crispy, feel free to leave it in a little longer. Let the bacon cool for 5 minutes before removing it from the rack and serving.
  • Voilá, welcome in bacon heaven. You’re welcome.

Notes

Candy? Yes. Bacon? Umm, yes. Maple candied bacon? Good God, yes! And it’s way easier to make than you might think, we promise. You basically just slather thick-cut bacon in maple syrup, sprinkle it with brown sugar and a hint of black pepper for a salty-sweet delight that elevates breakfast to an ohmygosh level. Use it as a garnish for your favorite brunch cocktail, crumble pieces of it over a salad or add it to a sandwich. Or hey, just enjoy it all on its own. Wake up and smell the (maple-candied) bacon.
