
SWEET AND SOUR PORK with Mixed Vegetables
Ingredients
Meat
- 1 lb pork loin cut into 1 inch cubes
Marinade
- 1 tbs wine
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tsp ginger minced
- 1/2 Tsp Accent
Batter
- 2 egg yolks
- 4 tbs cornstarch
Sauce
- 6 tbs sugar
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 1 tbs wine 1/4 cup
- 3 tbs vinegar 3/4 cup
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice 2 cups
- 3 tbs ketchup 3/4
- 1/2 cup water 2 cup
- 2 tbs cornstarch 8 tbs
Vegetable Mixture
- 1/2 cup green pepper in 1 inch squares
- 1/2 cup carrots cut on diagonal
- 1/2 cup bamboo shoots cut on diagonal ( or as in can )
- 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
- 1/2 cup onion quartered
Instructions
Marinade
- Soak 2-3 hours or overnight
Batter
- Mix well. Add additional cornstarch if necessary to achieve a stiff batter. Drain meat well and combine with batter. Deep fry at 420*F. until crisp and golden brown. Turn out on platter
Sauce
- Combine sugar, soy sauce, wine, vinegar, pineapple juice, catsup and bring to boil. Mix cornstarch and water. Add to boiling ingredients and stir until thick.
Vegetable Mixture
- Fry vegetable mixture in 6 tbs oil a 420*F. for a few minutes or just until vegetables take on transparent appearance. Add sauce and blend. Add meat and serve.
